Anhydrous Ammonia Awareness for First Responders

Newly updated Anhydrous Ammonia Awareness for First Responders training course.

Fertilizer Canada, in partnership with the Paramedic Association of Canada, Canadian Association of Police Chiefs, and the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, launched the update of the Anhydrous Ammonia Awareness for First Responders program in December 2019.

Fertilizer Canada first established a training and awareness program for first responders (fire fighters) in 2007, followed by the launch of a training and awareness package in 2009. This provided every fire station across Canada a copy of the training kit, amounting over 4,000 kits total. An additional 2,500 kits were distributed to agri-retailers and at meetings and workshops during the campaign. Since 2009, Fertilizer Canada has continued to promote the training and awareness program, primarily through partnerships with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.

Building on a decade of success in delivering the anhydrous ammonia training and awareness program to firefighters, Fertilizer Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Paramedics Association of Canada in 2018. The MOU established a partnership for an updated anhydrous ammonia first responder training and awareness program, incorporating all first responder communities.

If you are interested in getting the most up-to-date safety training will be able to find the Anhydrous Ammonia Awareness for First Responders training free through Fertilizer Canada’s eLearning platform at https://fertilizercanada.ca/safety-security/elearning/.
